Zine
For the zine project, I wanted to use music as my theme. Because music is such a broad topic, I decided to focus my zine to music I enjoyed listening to when I was in high school. In high school, I started to be very interested in emo, alternative, and indie rock, and my zine reflects that. For the zine, I separated the zine by musical genre. I started out with emo music because that was the genre that I like listened to when I first started high school. During sophomore year, I started listening to indie music, which is represented by the second section. The third section represents my junior when I listened to alternative rock. The final section represents my senior year when I listened to up incoming indie bands at the time. Each page is dedicated to a band I listened to and some of the pages include lyrics from my favorite songs from the band. The cover is a picture of me when I was a sophomore in high school. Through the zine, I wanted to capture the sense of nostalgia that I get while listening to these bands and I hope that viewers who listened to this music during that time as well could also relate. I also created this zine knowing that some of these bands are making a comeback and are gaining a wider fan base. I find it ironic that what made me the “weird kid” in high school is now trendy.

Through the project, I was reintroduced to InDesign. Ironically, it has been since high school since I used the software. I learned about the most recent version of InDesign. Despite having worked with InDesign before, some aspects such as formatting was challenging but overall, this was a fun project in which I would like to continue.
